Peter Facinelli (Nurse Jackie) is set to star opposite Anna Friel and Jake Robinson in NBC drama pilot Odyssey, co-written and directed by Peter Horton through Universal TV. A global conspiracy thriller, Odyssey centers on three families whose lives are torn apart when a stranded female soldier (Friel), a disillusioned corporate attorney (Facinelli), and a disrespected political activist (Robinson) are pulled into the same shocking international military conspiracy. Twilight franchise alum Facinelli, repped by APA, Intellectual Artists Management and attorney Barry Littman, has recurred on Glee this season.
Carlos Valdes, currently on Broadway in Once, is the latest addition to the CW pilot The Flash, based on the DC comic. The project, from Warner Bros TV and Berlanti Productions, is an origin story about Barry Allen, aka The Flash (Grant Gustin), a Central City assistant police forensics investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. Valdes will play Cisco Ramon, a mechanical engineering genius and the youngest member of the team of scientists at STAR Labs.
Kara Killmer has been cast as a series regular in the NBC pilot Tin Man, a futuristic thriller drama from feature writer Ehren Kruger. Set in the near future, it centers on robot Adam Sentry (Patrick Heusinger), accused of the first-degree murder of his creator, Charles Vale, and the female public defender forced to fight for his cause. Killmer, repped by APA and Kelly Tiffan Management, will play Athena True, Vale’s synthetic robotic companion, a gorgeous and provocative seductress modeled to exactly resemble Vale’s late wife. She claims to be an eyewitness of Adam murdering Vale, but the truth may be a lot more complicated.
Robert Wisdom (Nashville) is set to co-star opposite Paul Giamatti in Hoke, FX’s darkly comedic drama pilot based on Charles Willeford’s series of novels. Written by Scott Frank, who will direct and showrun the pilot, Hoke is a story of mid-life crisis and murder that features the hardboiled and possibly insane homicide detective Hoke Moseley (Giamatti) in pre-chic Miami circa 1985. Wisdom, repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and KLWGN, will play Hoke’s boss Major Brownley, the head of the Homicide Squad. He’s known Hoke for a very long time and knows all of Hoke’s strengths, weaknesses, eccentricities and prejudices. Wisdom just shot a guest star/recurring role on Syfy’s 12 Monkeys pilot, based on the Terry Gilliam movie, playing Jeremy, a former CIA operative who’s content to apply his talents in the kitchen. He is filming his fifth episode of NBC’s Chicago PD as Commander Perry and will next be seen in Universal’s The Loft.
NBC continues to open its doors to suppliers outside of the traditional Hollywood studio system. The network has given an off-cycle pilot order to Odyssey, a global conspiracy thriller drama from ProSiebenSat.1′s Red Arrow Entertainment Group. Produced by the group’s London-based Red Arrow Entertainment, LA-based Fabrik Entertainment and Universal TV, Odyssey is described as a Traffic-like thriller centered on three families whose lives are torn apart when a stranded female soldier, a disillusioned corporate attorney and a disrespected political activist are pulled into the same shocking international military conspiracy. The pilot, which was developed at Red Arrow, is executive produced by Adam Armus & Kay Foster (The Following) and Peter Horton, who co-wrote the script together; Red Arrow’s Head of Scripted, Simon Maxwell; and Fabrik’s Mikkel Bondesen, Kristen Campo, and Henrik Bastin. Horton is set to direct.
