Oscar Documentary Shorts Deadline Sept. 1

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Thursday, September 1, is the deadline for documentary filmmakers to submit short subject documentaries to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for consideration for the 84th Academy Awards®.

To be eligible, the documentaries must complete a seven-day commercial run in a theater in either Los Angeles County or in the Borough of Manhattan in New York, between January 1, 2011, and December 31, 2011. All paperwork must be completed and received by the Academy no later than 30 days after the end of the qualifying run. For films completing their qualifying run after August 1, all paperwork, including legal contracts, must be completed and received by the Academy by 5 p.m. PT on Thursday, September 1.

OSCAR: 2010 Screen Credits & Music Entry Forms Due Dec. 1

Beverly Hills, CA — Wednesday, December 1, is the deadline to submit official screen credits (OSC) and music submission forms to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 83rd Academy Awards® consideration.

For a feature film to be considered for the 2010 Awards, the film’s distributor or producer must file an OSC form with the Academy by 5 p.m. PT on December 1. If a feature film is released in Los Angeles County in 2010 and the completed OSC form is not submitted by the deadline, the film will be ineligible for Academy Awards in any year.

OSC forms may be submitted online only, at http://aiwosc.oscars.org/aiwosc/. ; Information about submission and feature film eligibility can be obtained by contacting Credits Coordinator Howard Loberfeld at (310) 247-3000, ext. 113, or via e-mail at hloberfeld@oscars.org.

For an achievement to be considered in the Original Score or Original Song category, the principal music writer(s) for a feature film must submit an official music submission form by 5 p.m. PT on December 1.

Oscar Deadlines For Foreign Films & Shorts

Beverly Hills, CA – Friday, October 1, is the deadline to submit entries in the Live Action Short Film, Animated Short Film and Foreign Language Film categories to be considered for the 83rd Academy Awards®. Complete entries must arrive at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by 5 p.m. PT that day.

In the short film categories, filmmakers must submit an entry form, one film print or copy in an approved digital format, and all other required materials by the deadline.

In the Foreign Language Film category, filmmakers must submit entry forms, one English-subtitled film print or copy in an approved digital format, and all other required materials by the deadline. Only one motion picture will be accepted from each country.
