It’s another high note for La Voz Kids. On Sunday, 2.42 million viewers watched the Spanish-language version of NBC’s The Voice on Telemundo, with an audience of 1.225 million in the adults 18-49 demographic. That is a 17% viewership jump and an 18% demo jump for the 8-10 PM freshman. More significantly, while The Voice itself has hit new lows this season, La Voz Kids has grown significantly since its May 5 debut. The series is up 43% in total viewership and 40% in the key demo since the 1.695 million total viewers and 873,000 18-49s it had at the beginning of last month. That debut made Los Voz Kids the highest-rated reality series ever on the Comcast-owned network. Hosted by Daisy Fuentes and Jorge Bernal, La Voz Kids features Prince Royce, Roberto Tapia and recently named new The X Factor judge Paulina Rubio as judges. Unlike its NBC parent, the show focuses on children between 7-14 as they compete for a recording contract and a cash prize for their education.
Fox has officially announced that Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio will join Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato as judges on the third season of The X Factor. “It’s taken more than a decade, but I’m delighted to finally be on a panel with three girls (I think!),” Cowell said. “Paulina and Kelly both have great taste and massive experience in the music industry, and together with Demi, this is going to be a fun panel. It just feels like the time to do something different.” Rowland was a judge on Season 8 of the UK version of X Factor.
Former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland and Mexican singer-actress Paulina Rubio are in negotiations to join Fox‘s The X Factor alongside Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato. They’d be filling the judges’ seats vacated by LA Reid and Britney Spears. Both have previous experience: Rowland served as a judge on the award-winning eighth season of the UK version in 2011, while Rubio was a coach on the second season of La Voz… México. In March, she also signed on as a coach on Telemundo’s children’s singing competition show La Voz Kids, airing this spring. X Factor US is set to film auditions in Charleston, SC, this Tuesday and Wednesday. That leaves little time for the ink to dry ahead of an official announcement from the network, which Cowell tweeted will be revealed Monday. X Factor‘s third season will debut this fall.
