Hot Teaser: BBC Sings Hearts And Soul Of New Doctor WhoWith the season premiere looming Aug. 23 for the newest Doctor WhoBBC One has rolled out a very brief teaser trailer featuring, well, not so much new Who Peter Capaldi as an electrifying peek into his innards, which may indeed include his soul as the Dalek-y voiceover declares but definitely features those twin hearts. Makes one wonder if the good doctor is a cardiologist. But as the BBC pitch goes, they want you to get to know him, apparently from the inside out. This comes not long after another BBC video with more Capaldi came out June 27. Check out here:

‘Doctor Who’ Season 8 Premiere Date, New Teaser Revealed: VideoBBC America will debut the eighth season of Doctor Who — ahem, the first season featuring new Doctor Peter Capaldi — at 8PM ET on August 23. The season will blast off with a feature-length episode entitled “Deep Breath” in which Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor makes his first full-episode appearance. Jenna Coleman returns as companion Clara Oswald and Samuel Anderson joins the cast as Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School, where Clara also works. Ben Miller (Primeval, Death In Paradise), Keeley Hawes (Line Of Duty, Upstairs, Downstairs), and Tom Riley (Da Vinci’s Demons) guest star. ‘Doctor Who’ To Regenerate In 7-City World Tour Introducing Peter Capaldi As Time Lord

capaldi colemanIn a first-of-its-kind event, Doctor Who will launch a global world tour this summer, visiting seven cities across five continents to introduce the 12th Time Lord, Peter Capaldi. Joining Capaldi will be on-screen companion Jenna Coleman, and the show’s lead writer and exec producer Steven Moffat (he’ll only make it to some of the stops, however). The 12-day roadshow is the biggest ever promotional undertaking in Doctor Who’s 50-year history and will kick off in Cardiff, Wales on August 7 before heading to London, Seoul, Sydney, New York, Mexico City and Rio. Capaldi and Coleman are appearing together for the first time in the U.S. when they arrive in New York on August 14. That’s a year and 10 days after Capaldi was revealed as the new Doctor, replacing Matt Smith who doctor whoplayed the role from 2010-2013. Capaldi made a very brief appearance in the show’s 50th anniversary special The Day Of The Doctor which aired in a global simulcast on November 23 last year and broke ratings and social media records for BBC America which airs the series Stateside. ‘History Boys’ Samuel Anderson Joining ‘Doctor Who’ In Recurring Role

sam andersonDoctor Who is getting a new addition — and going back to school. Samuel Anderson (The History Boys, Gavin & Stacey) is joining the cast for series 8 which also introduces Peter Capaldi as the newest incarnation of the Time Lord. Anderson will play recurring character Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School where companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) also teaches. Head writer and exec producer Steven Moffat said today, “For the fourth time in Doctor Who history, Coal Hill School is coming to the aid of the TARDIS.” The school was the setting of much of the first Doctor Who episode, An Unearthly Child, broadcast in November 1963. In that episode, two teachers, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright, accompanied the first Doctor, William Hartnell. (Among its other appearances, the school also came up in the 50th anniversary special The Day Of The Doctor.) Shooting started recently on episode 4 of the new series which will co-star Robert Goodman (Gangs Of New York, Game Of Thrones), and episode 5, co-starring Jonathan Bailey (Broadchurch) and Pippa Bennett-Warner (Death In Paradise). The new season is due to air later this year. Anderson is repped by the UK’s Creative Artists Management.

‘Mr Selfridge’ Down In UK Return; ‘Call The Midwife’ Sets Record; Strong Bow For ‘The Musketeers’: Video

The Season 2 premiere of Jeremy Piven-starrer Mr Selfridge on ITV had an average 5.27M viewers for a 20.5% share, according to the overnights. That’s about 2M less than last year’s Season 1 bow of the department store period series. Season 2 kicks off in the States on PBS on March 30, the same day that Season 3 of Call The Midwife starts. That hit period medical drama returned to BBC One on Sunday night with a record 9.61M viewers and a 36.1% share. It was the most-watched program of the weekend in the UK and also the highest-rated episode ever of the show’s career. Midwife provided a strong lead-in for new BBC One series The Musketeers in its debut, which was up against Mr Selfridge. The updated spin on the classic tales of Alexandre Dumas stars new Doctor Who, Peter Capaldi, as the shadowy Cardinal Richelieu along with Luke Pasqualiano, Santiago Cabrera, Tom Burke, Howard Charles and Hugo Speer (watch a trailer below). The 10-part drama received strong notices from British critics and logged 7.41M viewers for a 28.9% share.
