Peter Facinelli’s A7SLE Films Taps ‘Demonic’ Scribe To Adapt ‘The Devil’s Rooming House’

By | Wednesday May 21, 2014 @ 6:37pm PDT

Max la BellaEXCLUSIVE: A7SLE Films has hired Max La Bella to script the true story adaptation The Devil’s Rooming House, about early 20th century murderess Amy Archer-Gilligan. A7SLE Films, the production shingle co-founded by Twilight and Nurse Jackie star Peter Facinelli, snapped up rights to writer M. William Phelps’ chronicle of the Archer-Gilligan saga last year. Archer-Gilligan was the unassuming nursing home proprietress who had a curiously high number of fatalities occur in her house between 1907 and 1917. The majority of the deaths were found later to be caused by poisoning, and Archer-Gilligan was found guilty of multiple counts of murder. Her story would go on to inspire the play and Cary Grant film Arsenic And Old Lace.

Peter Facinelli’s A7SLE Films Options Female Serial Killer Tome ‘The Devil’s Rooming House’

By | Tuesday November 19, 2013 @ 4:48pm PST

EXCLUSIVE: Peter Facinelli‘s A7SLE Films has snapped up rights to true-story saga The Devil’s Rooming House, M. William Phelps’ chronicle of early 20th century murderess Amy Archer-Gilligan. Credited as America’s most prolific female serial killer, Archer-Gilligan ran a nursing home that played host to a curiously high number of fatalities between 1907 and 1917. Most of the deaths were found to be caused by poisoning, and bulk arsenic buyer “Sister Amy” was eventually found guilty of murder. (Her story later inspired Joseph Kesselring’s 1939 play Arsenic and Old Lace and its subsequent film adaptation starring Cary Grant.) The Devil’s Rooming House is the latest adaptation acquisition for Facinelli and A7SLE Films, who just finished production with FilmDistrict on The Last Word based on Frank Mancuso Jr.’s documentary of the same name. Facinelli’s Whitey Bulger event series, based on the book Street Soldier, is also in development. Facinelli, late of the Twilight Saga and Nurse Jackie, is currently recurring on Glee. A7SLE’s Rob DeFranco negotiated the deal with Matthew Valentinas for Phelps. Facinelli and DeFranco are repped by APA, Intellectual Artists Management and attorney Barry Littman.

‘Twilight Saga’s Peter Facinelli Producing Pic About Whitey Bulger’s Boston Gang

By | Tuesday June 28, 2011 @ 10:52am PDT
Mike Fleming

EXCLUSIVE: Twilight Saga star Peter Facinelli is producing an adaptation of Street Soldier: My Life as an Enforcer For Whitey Bulger and the Boston Irish Mob, an adaptation of the Edward MacKenzie and Phyllis Karas book. Facinelli Films is teamed with Brookstreet Pictures on an indie film that will tell the story of Bulger’s rise and disappearance from the Boston mob scene. While Bulger was said to have informed the character that Jack Nicholson played in The Departed, his tale has drawn film interest after he was apprehended in Santa Monica after vanishing in 1994 as federal agents were about to arrest him in connection with 21 killings, racketeering and other crimes perpetrated in the 70s and 80s involving his Winter Hill gang.

Fortunately for Facinelli, he got involved nine months ago and has a Nick Gordon script and funding commitment from Brookstreet Pictures. He wants to tell the story from the vantage point of MacKenzie, a boxer, drug dealer and feared enforcer. They will go out to filmmakers and a cast. “With the extraordinary capture of Whitey Bulger, there is no better time to tell this amazing story of the Boston Irish Mob from the gripping perspective of Eddie Mac,” said Brookstreet president/CEO Trevor Matthews, who’ll produce with Facinelli, Rob DeFranco and Alison Haskovec. Brookstreet previously produced Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer and The Shrine. Gersh’s Jay Cohen and the … Read More »

Showtime Castings: ‘Nurse Jackie’, ‘Shameless’

Nellie Andreeva

After Blythe Danner and Swoosie Kurtz made a memorable turn as Peter Facinelli’s lesbian moms on the first season of Nurse Jackie, the show’s producers decided to bring the characters back for another guest stint in the upcoming third season. However, Danner was unavailable because she is shooting a movie, so Judith Light was tapped for the role… Robert Knepper is adding to the string of bad guys he’s played on TV, most notably on Prison Break and Heroes. In a 2-episode arc on Showtime’s upcoming drama Shameless, he will play a goon who is chasing William Macy’s alcoholic partiarch character because of a scam they had going together.
