PinkThe Grammy Awards are starting to rival the Oscars in length. Last night, the 56th Grammys ran for 3 hours and 45 minutes. That’s 10 minutes longer than the last Academy Awards, 15 minutes longer than last year’s Grammy Awards, and the longest Grammys in 22 years. And that is despite the producers starting to roll the end credits while A-list rockers Trent Reznor, Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Grohl and Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac were still performing, prompting a ticked-off Renzor to tweet a “heartfelt F**K you” to Grammy organizers. The busting out-of-control length of the show that is pushing it to the wee hours does not seem to be hurting ratings: Last night’s Grammys drew 28.51 million viewers, up a fraction from last year’s audience of 28.37 million to post the awards show’s second-biggest audience since 1993, behind only the blockbuster 2012 Grammys that followed Whitney Houston’s death. In adults 18-49, this year’s show averaged a 9.9, off by 2% from last year’s 10.1. CBS dominated the night in total viewers and adults 18-49.
