Los Angeles, June 26…The Publicists of the International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE Local 600) have set the date of their 50th anniversary ICG Publicists Awards Luncheon. It will be in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 22, 2013, positioned, as usual, two days before the Oscars®. Awards are presented in the following categories: Motion Picture Showman of the Year, Television Showman of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Maxwell Weinberg Publicist Award for a Television Campaign and separately for a Movie Campaign, the Les Mason Award for Career Achievement in Publicity, Excellence in Unit Still Photography and the Bob Yeager Award for Community Service.
CBS Television Studios president David Stapf will receive the Television Showman of the Year award at the ICG’s Publicists Awards Luncheon, set for February 24 at the Beverly Hilton. Stapf was SVP Advertising, Publicity and Promotion at Warner Bros Television before landing at CBS in 1999 and rising to his current post, where he oversees the studio’s development and production. He began his career in 1985 as a unit publicist for Embassy Television. “The fact that David Stapf began his career as a publicist clearly validates his appreciation of the importance of publicity in the ultimate success of entertainment products,” awards committee chair Henri Bollinger said in making the announcement today. “His background in publicity and the inordinate success he has enjoyed as President of CBS Television Studios makes him uniquely qualified to receive this honor.”
Carol Burnett will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Cinematographers Guild’ 49th annual Publicists Awards Luncheon, which will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 24, 2012. Previous recipients of the award include George Burns, Lew Wasserman, Warren Beatty, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Clint Eastwood, Julie Andrews, Harrison Ford, Robert Zemeckis and last year’s honoree Sylvester Stallone.
The Paley Center’s 29th annual PaleyFest: The William S. Paley Television Festival, will take place from March 2-14 at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. FX’s new drama American Horror Story will serve as the gala opening, Modern Family will close out the festival, with Mad Men also on tap for a session.
Chris Coelen’s Kinetic Content, producer of the upcoming game/reality shows You Deserve It on ABC and Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, has promoted Emma Conway to Executive Producer in charge of Development. Additionally, Zach Green (American Chopper, Survivor) is joining the company as Executive Producer.
