‘Dark Days’ Ben Ketai To Direct Revolver Picture’s ‘Beneath’

By | Monday March 18, 2013 @ 12:42pm PDT

Revolver Picture CompanyEXCLUSIVE: Revolver Picture Co has brought Ben Ketai on board to direct the horror-thriller Beneath. The director-writer previously helmed the horror film and 30 Days Of Night sequel Dark Days in 2010. Beneath focuses on a team of coal miners and a headstrong female lawyer who are trapped underground when the mine collapses. Turns out they are not the only ones who want to get to the surface. Patrick J. Doody and Chris Valenziano wrote the screenplay on spec, and former Dimension Films and Screen Gems executive Nick Phillips and veteran casting director Kelly Wagner’s recently formed company picked it up late last year. The Paradigm Motion Picture Finance Group arranged financing for Revolver’s elevated low-budget genre slate. Wagner and Phillips will produce Beneath with Austin Reading, who brought the material to the duo. Production is scheduled to start in May in LA. Ketai is repped by APA and Circle of Confusion; Doody and Valenziano are repped by APA and managed by Jonathan Hung; and Reading is repped by APA and New Wave Entertainment. Revolver is repped by Paradigm.

Newly Formed Revolver Picture Company Announces Genre Film Slate

By | Thursday January 17, 2013 @ 8:00am PST

Former Dimension Films and Screen Gems executive Nick Phillips and veteran casting director Kelly Wagner have formed Revolver Picture Company. The new enterprise will produce a slate of elevated low budget genre films. Financing for the slate was arranged by the Paradigm Motion Picture Finance Group. Revolver just wrapped production in Utah on the supernatural thriller Haunt, which they co-financed and co-produced with QED International. They are currently prepping the found footage film Beneath.

Phillips most recently served as SVP of production at Sony’s genre division, overseeing such films as Straw Dogs and Country Strong, as well as working on the Halloween and Hellraiser franchises at Dimension. Wagner has been a casting director on The Grudge and Hostel franchises, as well as last year’s The Devil Inside. The duo previously worked together on the sequels to Vacancy and 30 Days Of Night for Sony’s Stage 6 division, among others. Wagner’s casting company will now be known as Wagner-Posseren Casting and will be overseen by her partner Dominika Posseren. The casting company will not be exclusive to Revolver Picture Company. Revolver Picture Company will be repped by Paradigm.
