Sharon Gless Joins ABC Pilot ‘Saint Francis’

Sharon GlessEmmy winner Sharon Gless is set as a series regular in Saint Francis, Chris Moynihan’s multi-camera comedy pilot for ABC, from ABC Studios and Tagline. It centers on Francis Quinlan (Michael Imperioli), a no-nonsense, blue-collar Long Island cop and family man who butts heads with the modern, liberal world when his 29-year-old sister Heather (Spencer Grammer) gets pregnant out of wedlock. Gless will play Francis’ mother Janice Quinlan, an Irish Catholic “widow/martyr” who has taken up permanent residence in Francis’ basement. When she learns that Heather is pregnant, she rushes off to her parish priest, who is happy to confirm the fact that Janice’s only daughter is going straight to hell. Gless, repped by Domain, manager Perry Zimel and Katz Golden Rosenman LLP, is coming off seven-season run on USA’s Burn Notice. Other TV credits include turns on Queer As Folk, Nip/Tuck, The Trials Of Rosie O’Neill and BBC telefilm The State Within. She won two Emmys and was a Golden Globe nominee for her role on Cagney & Lacey.

John Kapelos, Lindsey Haun To Recur On ‘Graceland’; Jeremy Luke Joins ABC’s ‘Saint Francis’

kapelos1lindseyh1John Kapelos (The Breakfast Club, Justified) and Lindsey Haun (True Blood) have landed recurring roles on USA Network’s police drama Graceland. Kapelos will play Lawrence, manager of the garage through which the Solano cartel smuggles its drugs. He’s with Glick, Characters Talent Agency and A.D.S. Management. Haun, repped by Talent Works and Bohemia Group, will play Romona, a “working woman” from Fort Worth, TX, who propositions Jakes (Brandon Jay McLaren).

obyrne1`Brian F. O’Byrne (Prime Suspect, FlashForward) has nabbed a lead role in ABC’s drama pilot Exposed, from writer Charles Randolph, Peter Traugott’s TBD Entertainment, and Universal TV. It centers on Anna, an investigative journalist who will stop at nothing to uncover the truth including making questionable alliances. O’Byrne, repped by Gersh and Lisa Richards Agency, will play Quigg, a very powerful, mysterious man who works for the Pentagon.

Michael Imperioli To Topline ABC Comedy Pilot ‘Saint Francis’

imperioliThe Sopranos alum Michael Imperioli has been tapped as the lead in Saint Francis, Chris Moynihan’s multi-camera comedy pilot for ABC. The project, from ABC Studios and Tagline, centers on Francis Quinlan (Imperioli), a blue-collar, no-nonsense Long Island cop and family man who butts heads with the modern, liberal world when his 29-year-old sister gets pregnant out of wedlock. This marks Imperioli’s return to ABC where he starred on two drama series, Detroit 1-8-7 and Life On Mars. He has a major recurring role on the upcoming seventh and final season of Showtime’s Californication.

NAHNATCHKA KAHN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER/CREATOR/WRITER)Don’t Trust The B—- creator Nahnatchka Khan is back on pilot duty at ABC as the network has given a pilot order to her single-camera comedy project Fresh Off The Boat. This is Khan’s second pilot pickup this season; she also has comedy Fatrick on Fox, which is on a series track. Fresh Off The Boat, which had a put pilot commitment, is written/executive produced by Khan, with Jake Kasdan also exec producing the project for 20th Century Fox TV, where both abclogoKhan and Kasdan are based. Based on Eddie Huang’s memoir, it is set in the 1990s and revolves around a Chinese family that moves to suburban Orlando. (Huang’s real-life family is Taiwanese.) It centers on hip-hop-loving Eddie, raised by an immigrant father who is obsessed with all things American and an immigrant mother who is often bewildered by white culture. With his father owning and operating an All-American Steakhouse chain, this loving family of FOB (“fresh off the boat”) Taiwanese Americans try to live the American dream while still maintaining their cultural identity and sense of family. This is a setup Khan can relate to as she too is a first-generation American.
