Student Academy Awards Winners Announced

BEVERLY HILLS, CA –Thirteen students from nine U.S. colleges and universities as well as three students from foreign universities have been selected as winners in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Student Academy Awards competition. They will be brought to Los Angeles for a week of industry activities that will culminate in the awards ceremony, hosted by 1978 Student Academy Award winner and comedian Bob Saget, on Saturday, June 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

This year saw first-time honors go to Elon University, Occidental College and the University of Michigan in the U.S. competition, as well as to Zurich University of the Arts, Switzerland, and RITS School of Arts, Belgium, in the foreign competition. The medal placements – gold, silver and bronze – in each of the award categories will be announced at the June 8 ceremony.

2013 Student Academy Awards Finalists

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Thirty-eight students from 17 U.S. colleges and universities as well as nine students from foreign universities have been selected as finalists in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Student Academy Awards competition. Winners will be brought to Los Angeles for a week of industry activities and social events that will culminate in the awards ceremony on Saturday, June 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Student Oscar Winners To Get First Public Screenings At Palm Springs Fest

Palm Springs, CA (June 19, 2012) – The 2012 Palm Springs International ShortFest & Film Market, announced today that it will present the first public screening of the Gold Medal Award winners of this year’s Student Academy Awards. These five films chosen by the voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences represent the “best in class” from among all of the student films submitted to the Academy this year. The winning films were announced on Saturday, June 9 at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The selected films are The Reality Clock, Amanda Tasse, University of Southern California; Eyrie, David Wolter, California Institute of the Arts; Hiro: A Story of Japanese Internment, Keiko Wright, New York University; Under, Mark Raso, Columbia University; For Elsie, David Winstone, University of Westminster, United Kingdom.

Student Academy Awards Winners Honored

Beverly Hills, CA – Thirteen students from colleges and universities around the world were honored tonight (June 9) as winners at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 39th Annual Student Academy Awards. The medal placements were announced at the awards ceremony, which featured as presenters actors Laura Dern, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Greg Kinnear and Mena Suvari alongside Academy President Tom Sherak at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
