Charlie Sheen Roast: Lotsa Industry Jabs
UPDATED: It looks like on their own, Charlie Sheen and Two and a Half Men may be bigger ratings hits than they were together — at least in their first post-separation outings. After CBS’ Two and a Half Men posted series records last night for its season premiere that introduced Sheen’s replacement Ashton Kutcher, Comedy Central’s Roast of Charlie Sheen did the same for the cable network’s roast franchise. The special pulled in 6.4 million viewers, a 4.5 rating in adults 18-49 and a 6.2 in 18-34 for its 10 PM premiere, making it the most-watched and highest-rated roast in the history of the Comedy Central franchise. (Sorry, Donald!) In adults 18-49, the roast was the highest-rated telecast ever for Comedy Central. Across all plays last night, the special amassed 10 million viewers.
Comedy Central has released 2 more promos for its Roast of Charlie Sheen, one titled Driving the Roast Express and the other Tsunami in a Sippy Cup. Both take place aboard the Roast Express, aka Crazy Train. The event tapes Sept. 10 for a Sept. 19 premiere.
Comedy Central today announced the first group of roasters for its Roast of Charlie Sheen. It includes TMZ boss Harvey Levin, Jackass star Steve-O, former boxer Mike Tyson as well as comedians Anthony Jeselnik and Jeffrey Ross. Hosted by Seth MacFarlane, the roast will be taped Sept. 10 for a Sept. 19 premiere.
Comedy Central this morning released the first promo for its upcoming Roast of Charlie Sheen. Called Dr. StrangeSheen, it features the former Two and a Half Men star re-enacting a scene from Dr. Strangelove. The roast premieres Sept. 19, the same night CBS debuts Two and a Half Men with Ashton Kutcher as its new leading man.
Comedy Central said today that Family Guy boss Seth MacFarlane will host the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen, which will tape in Los Angeles on Sept. 10 ahead of a Sept. 19 airdate — which happens to be the same night CBS premieres the post-Sheen post-Two And a Half Men. MacFarlane has hosted two previous roasts. “In addition to his sharp wit, Seth is way more suave and sophisticated than we are,” said Kent Alterman, head of original programming and production at Comedy Central. “We continue to try and soil him.”
Comedy Central To Roast Charlie Sheen, Will Air On Same Night Ashton Kutcher Debuts On ‘Two And A Half Men’
Charlie Sheen has found his next TV gig … sort of. The former Two and a Half Men star will be the guest of honor on The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen, which the network said today will tape Sept. 10 in Los Angeles. The show is set to air Sept. 19 at 10 PM, which just happens to be the same night his former show premieres with Sheen’s replacement Ashton Kutcher (Men‘s season debut is at 9 PM). “Charlie has assured us that nothing will be off limits in this roast … which scares even us,” said Kent Alterman, head of original programming and production at Comedy Central. Said Sheen: “You could say I’ve been providing kindling for this roast for a while. It’s time to light it up. It’s going to be epic.”
