‘The Nine Lives Of Chloe King’ Movie Script To Be Released Online

By | Wednesday September 11, 2013 @ 3:46pm PDT

ABC Family will take a page out of Showtime‘s book on Friday when it releases the script for The Nine Lives Of Chloe King: Salvation, a two-hour telefilm conclusion to the popular series that was cancelled in 2011 after one season. Fans can head online to Alloy Entertainment’s official site on Friday, September 13 at 9:13 AM PT for closure on the series about Chloe, a teenager with cat like powers who discovers she’s descended from an ancient race and must defend the human race from assassins. The film script by exec producer Dan Berendsen will wrap up loose ends and answer lingering questions about The Order, Whitley Rezza’s true motivations, Alek’s past and whether Meredith will finally learn about her daughter’s secret identity. Showtime paved the way for this kind of post-cancellation fan service last month when it released the unproduced screenplay for a Borgias movie as an e-book after that series ended.

Canceled ABC Family Series ‘Nine Lives Of Chloe King’ To Get New Life As Movie: TCA

By | Monday January 9, 2012 @ 9:33am PST

Diane Haithman is contributing to Deadline’s TCA coverage.

UPDATED: We may not have seen the last of The Nine Lives Of Chloe King on ABC Family. The network canceled the drama series about a girl with cat-like powers in September after one modestly rated season. But during this morning’s ABC Family executive session at TCA, the network’s president Michael Riley said that “we are on the verge of putting a (Chloe King) movie into development.” No details to announce on story, but the plan is “to capitalize on the storytelling that’s already been in place,” he said. Dan Berendsen (Hannah Montana: The Movie), who developed and executive produced the series, is on board to write the Chloe King movie. In talking about the series, Riley didn’t want to use the word canceled. “We didn’t cut it short — we never talk about canceling shows at ABC Family,” he said, referring to the fact that Chloe King completed its first-season run before the network opted not to go forward with Season 2. “We loved the cast; we loved the writing on that show. For us it was about making some decisions. We had to choose between what we thought was resonating stronger for the audience.” That would be the other 2 new ABC Family drama series that launched last summer, breakout hit Switched At Birth, which received a second-season pickup, and The Lying Read More »

Cable Ratings: Soft Debut For ‘Nine Lives’; ‘Hawthorne’ & ‘Memphis Beat’ Return Lower

Nellie Andreeva

ABC Family already has what what all cable networks strive to get every summer, one breakout hit, in Switched at Birth, which launched with record-breaking 3.3 million viewers earlier this month. The network’s second new drama, The Nine Lives of Chloe King, couldn’t match that performance, debuting with 2.2 million viewers Tuesday night. That was lower than other recent ABC Family premieres, including Pretty Little Liars and Make It Or Break It, which both opened with 2.5 million viewers. Nine Lives, which aired against the first hour of NBC’s The Voice held onto 59% of the audience of its lead-in, the second-season premiere of Pretty Little Liars (3.7 million), which was up from its series debut, down slightly from its record-setting winter premiere (4.2 million) and on par with its freshman-season finale. Pretty Little Liars was the most-watched series on cable last night. Read More »

ABC Family Greenlights 3 New Series – One Comedy And Two Dramas

Nellie Andreeva

New ABC Family president Michael Riley is making his first new series pickups today, ordering 3 new shows, the Raven Symone comedy The Great State of Georgia and 2 dramas, The Nine Lives of Chloe King and Switched at Birth. The orders to all 3 are for 10 episodes, including the pilot.

The Great State of Georgia, from ABC Studios, centers on Georgia (Raven Symone), an exuberant curvy performer from the south, and her science geek best friend Jo (Majandra Delfino) who try to make headway in New York City. The pilot was written by author Jennifer Weiner (In Her Shoes) and Jeff Greenstein (Desperate Housewives). This marks the return to sitcoms for Symone, who made her debut in the genre at age 2 on The Cosby Show. It also brings a companion piece to ABC Family’s hot original sitcom Melissa & Joey.

Nine Lives is based on Alloy’s Nine Lives of Chloe King series of 3 young-adult novels by Celia Thomson. Alloy Entertainment is producing the pilot, about Chloe King (Skyler Samuels), a teenager  with heightened abilities (super speed, agility, hearing…claws) who discovers she’s being pursued by a mysterious figure. Dan Berendsen (Hannah Montana: The Movie) penned the script and is executive producing with Alloy’s Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo. This marks the second Alloy series on ABC Family along with hit Pretty Little Read More »
