TCA: Daytime Talk Show ‘The Real’ Will Be Different From ‘The View’. Really.

TCA: Daytime Talk Show ‘The Real’ Will Be Different From ‘The View’. Really. The hosts of the Warner Bros TV Distribution/Telepictures’ daytime syndie series The Real were out to make a point that their girl talk show is completely different from ABC’s The View, simply because it’s, well — real —  as they emphasized continually throughout their TCA panel.  From the sizzle reel for the show, it looks like The Real isn’t that far The View, i.e. Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger guest stars and advises that the best place to meet a single guy is in… a steak house. However, Team Real’s argument is that they’re talking about topics impacting young women — i.e. having a baby, looking for Mr. Right — vs. The View‘s chatter about current headlines.

“What’s fake about it? That’s the point, there’s nothing fake about it,” declared co-host Adrienne Bailon, to which executive producer SallyAnn Salsano said, “If one of the hosts is being P.C., another one will call them out on it.” Read More »

The syndicated panel talk show, hosted by Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley, has been been bought by select stations from the Cox, Sinclair, Gannett, Local TV, Meredith, Raycom, Media General, Gray, Sunbeam, Griffin and Schurz groups. The Real Talk Show Fall 2014 LaunchAnother daytime player is entering the fray for fall 2014. Following a successful four-week test on seven Fox owned-and-operated stations this past summer, Warner Bros TV Distribution/Telepictures’ syndicated daytime panel talk show The Real will get a nationwide rollout next fall with the Fox TV Stations as a launch group. Additionally, the show, hosted by Tamera Mowry-Housley, Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon and Jeannie Mai and executive produced by Sally Ann Salsano (Jersey Shore), will get a second window on BET following the model of The Wendy Williams Show, which also airs on the Fox stations after a successful summer test run, as well as on BET. The two-year deal for The Real comes on the heels of WBTVD signing a three-year pact with the Fox stations for TMZ On TV offshoot TMZ Live. Insiders say the two shows could easily co-exist (TMZ Live does not require a national footprint), and The Real pickup also does not interfere with the renewal chances of WBTVD’s other talk show strip on the Fox stations, Bethenny. While the show has been slow out of the gate, I hear the Fox stations see some growth potential and want to monitor its performance for several more weeks before making a final decision on a second season. PREVIOUS EXCLUSIVE: ‘The Real’ Getting Summer Trial Run On Fox Stations

Telepictures Prods. today officially announced The Real, a new female panel daily syndicated talk show, which is getting a summer trial run on Fox stations. The announcement provided more details about the talker, hosted by Tamera Mowry-Housley, Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon and Jeannie Mai. The show, distributed by Warner Bros Domestic TV Distributiin, will launch on July 15 and will air in seven markets: LA, NY, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Houston and Tampa. Jersey Shore executive producer SallyAnn Salsano serves as executive producer. Here is the release, including The Real‘s airtimes in the different markets.

“The Real” is led by five bold, diverse and outspoken hosts — Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley. These women reflect the home audience and unapologetically say what women are actually thinking. Their unique perspectives are brought to life through their candid conversations about topics ranging from their own personal lives to the news of the day to beauty, fashion and relationships.

These women are all going through varied life experiences, including new motherhood, new marriages, dating or singledom, that relate to every woman’s own trials and tribulations. Unlike other talk shows, each of the five hosts is admittedly a “work in progress” and fearlessly

Tamera Mowry & Tamar Braxton Among Hosts Of New Syndicated Talk Show Getting Summer Trial Run On Fox Stations

EXCLUSIVE: A new panel talk show with female hosts is entering the daytime space. I’ve learned that a syndicated talker hosted by actress-singer Tamera Mowry (Tia & Tamera), singer Tamar Braxton (Braxton Family Values), singer-actress Adrienne Bailon (The Cheetah Girls), TV personality Jeannie Mai (How Do I Look?) and comedian Loni Love will be getting a summer trial run on some of the Fox-owned stations. The exact markets and time periods are still being worked out but I hear the show, produced by Telepictures, is eyeing a July 8 launch. Titled The Real, the talker is said to be in the vein of The View and The Talk, but with a younger and entirely ethnic panel. (All five hosts are under 40.) The Real is looking to follow in the footsteps of another Telepictures syndicated talk show, Bethenny, which had a successful summer run on Fox stations last summer before getting a nationwide launch this fall. For the Fox stations, this is the second talk show that is being given a try this summer, along with Twentieth’s Kris, hosted by Kris Jenner, which premieres July 15.
