Joseph Nunez Joins ABC’s ‘The Winklers’, Jonny Cruz & Dylan Bruce In ‘Matador’

Nunez (Super Bad, NCIS) has booked a role in ABC comedy pilot The Winklers from Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal; Henry Winkler’s son, director Max Winkler; and son-in-law, actor Rob Reinis. Based on Henry Winkler’s relationship with his son-in-law, Reinis, Winklers centers on Jack (Domenick Lombardozzi), an emotionally reserved construction worker who learns about love, life and hugs while unexpectedly living with his in-laws — successful actor Henry (Winkler) and Tita Winkler (Judith Light), the fabulous, fierce momma bear of the family. Nunez will play Paco, a construction worker on Jack’s crew whose secret passion is dance.

jonnycruz1bruceJonny Cruz (Cool Wheels) and Dylan Bruce (Orphan Black) have been cast as recurring in the upcoming action drama series Matador, for Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network, created by Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Matador chronicles the unlikely rise of Antonio “Matador” Bravo (Gabriel Luna), a popular soccer star who in reality uses his sports career for a cover as a skilled covert operative executing missions for a little-known branch of the CIA. judithlightEXCLUSIVE: Stars of two of ABC‘s most popular 1980s family comedies are teaming for the network’s multi-generational comedy pilot The Winklers. Judith Light of Who’s The Boss fame is set to co-star opposite Happy Days alum Henry Winkler in the pilot, from Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal; Winkler’s son, director Max Winkler; and son-in-law, actor Rob Reinis. Based on Henry Winkler’s relationship with his son-in-law, Reinis, Winklers centers on Jack (Domenick Lombardozzi), an emotionally reserved construction worker who learns about love, life and hugs while unexpectedly living with his in-laws — successful actor Henry (Winkler) and Tita Winkler (Light), the fabulous, fierce momma bear of the family. 20th TV is producing. Katie Holmes Joins ABC’s Richard LaGravenese Pilot; Josh Sussman In ‘The Winklers’

Katie Holmes has landed a series regular rolekatie2 in ABC’s Richard LaGravenese drama pilot. In the vein of Dangerous Liaisons, the untitled project is set in New York and revolves around the love and rivalry between two equally matched, powerful socialites, Philip Fitzgerald Julien (Rufus Sewell) and Margot Worth Cole, who play out their obsessive attraction and seduction of each other through their manipulation of others. Holmes will play Ann, a woman of education and breeding who, with her husband, runs a philanthropic foundation that helps bring clean water to African villages.

Family Sitcom From Phil Rosenthal, Max Winkler & Rob Reinis Gets ABC Pilot Order; Henry Winkler Expected To Star

henrywinklerrosenthalphilABC is looking to bring some Happy Days magic back the network with a new multi-camera project that would star Happy Days alum Henry Winkler. ABC has given a pilot order to The Winklers, a family comedy from Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal; Winkler’s son, director Max Winkler; and son-in-law, actor Rob Reinis. The project, which had a pilot production commitment, was conceived as a starring vehicle for Henry Winkler and is based on his relationship with his son-in-law. While Winkler doesn’t have an acting deal in place yet, he is expected to star in the pilot, written by Rosenthal from a story by him, Max Winkler and Reinis and possibly directed by Rosenthal.  It centers abclogoon an emotionally reserved construction worker who learns about love, life and hugs while unexpectedly living with his in-laws — Henry (Henry Winkler) and Stacey Winkler. (In real life, Henry Winkler has been married to his wife Stacey for more than 35 years.) The comedy hails from 20th TV and Max Winkler and Jake Johnson’s studio-based Walcott Co., marking the company’s first pilot order in its first year of development.
