‘Tosh.0′ Makes Record-Breaking Return

It’s a new season, new time slot, and the same red-hot Tosh.0. After posting a string of ratings records during its summer run, the third season premiere of the Comedy Central series in its new Tuesday 10 PM slot drew 3.6 million viewers, eclipsing its previous series high of 2.7 million set in July by a whopping 33%. Tosh.0 also set series highs in adults 18-49  (2.8 million or a 2.5 rating) and men 18-34 (1.2 million or a 4.4 rating). In fact, in 18-49, Tosh.0 beat the broadcast competition in the hour, CBS’ The Good Wife (2.3) and NBC’s Parenthood (2.2)

Comedy Central’s Tosh.0 continued to set new ratings records on Wednesday with new series-high marks among men 18-24 (5.0 rating) and men 18-34 (3.7 rating) and tying a series-high in adults 18-49 with 1.9 million viewers in the demo tuning in. (The show’s total viewer tally was 2.4 million.) Additionally, the network’s veterans The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (2.3 million total viewers, 1.5 million adults 18-49) and The Colbert Report (1.8 million total viewers, 1.3 million adults 18-49) posted their most-watched episodes of the year and logged season highs among adults and young men.

RATINGS RAT RACE: ESPY Awards & ‘Psych’ Premiere Gain In Young Viewers

The Saturday Night Live-flavored ESPY Awards, hosted by Seth Meyers and featuring current SNL cast member Andy Samberg and alum Will Ferrell, averaged 2.6 million viewers from 9-11:30 PM last night. The awards’ 18-49 audience was 1.7 million, which is up 30% from last year, when the ESPYs ran on Sunday. Meanwhile, the fifth season premiere of USA Network’s Psych at 10 PM posted a 15% gain in adults 18-34 from last season’s premiere, which aired behind the network’s older skewing dramedy Monk. In total viewers, Psych (3.7 million), was down 8% year-to-year. Elsewhere on cable in the 10-11 PM hour, TV Land’s Hot In Cleveland (3.0 million)held stead, while Comedy Central’s Tosh.0 (2.2 million) slipped a bit from its all-time high (2.4 million) last week.

Comedy Central’s Tosh.0 continues to grow, surging to a new series high on Wednesday night when it drew 2.4 million viewers, eclipsing its previous all-time high by more than 20%. This was Comedy Central’s highest-rated telecast in the post-South Park Wednesday 10:30 PM time slot since the heyday of Chapelle’s Show in 2004.

Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch also continues to break records with the final episodes of the late Captain Phil Harris. The Tuesday night episode averaged 5.3 million viewers, 2.6 million of the in the 18-49 demographic. That was the largest 18-49 audience ever for a Discovery series.
