Production Gets Underway For Season 3 Of ‘Ripper Street’
The 3rd season of Ripper Street started shooting today in Manchester, England. Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg are reprising their roles in the Victorian-era Ripper Streetdrama that was rescued by Amazon Prime Instant Video after a fan petition for its return after the BBC cancelled the show. MyAnna Buring (Downton Abbey) also is returning. In February, Amazon commissioned producers Tiger Aspect and Lookout Point with an eight-episode third season that will be available exclusively to Amazon Prime Instant Video members in the fall. The complete first season of Ripper Street is available on Amazon Prime now, with season 2 launching on the service on June 2. The series is filming in the UK for the first time, in Manchester and Loughborough, before moving to its traditional production base in Dublin, Ireland. It will continue to be co-produced in the U.S. by BBC America and will screen on BBC One a few months after it is available on Amazon in the UK. BBC Worldwide is distributing globally. Read More »

Alexis Denisof To Recur On ‘Grimm’, Phoebe Strole On ‘Glee’, Lindsey Kraft On ‘Pines’

Angel alum Alexis Denisof has booked an arc on another genre show, NBC’s supernatural crime drama Grimm, co-created by Angel co-creator David Greenwalt. He will play Viktor Albert Wilhelm George Beckendorf, the cunning, smart, funny and ruthless first cousin to Eric Renard (James Frain). Denisof is with Evolution and APA.

Phoebe Strole, member of the original cast of the 2006 musical Spring Awakening, is reuniting with co-star Lea Michele on Michele’s Fox series Glee. Strole, repped by APA and Principal Entertainment NY, will recur as Penny Owen, a sophomore in college who wants to get into nursing school and who becomes Sam’s (Chord Overstreet) new love interest. Bryan Fuller’s Syfy Pilot ‘High Moon’ Casts Leads, Fox’s ‘Wayward Pines’ Adds Duo

Jake Sandvig (Easy A) and Chris Diamantopoulos are set as the leads of Bryan Fuller’s Syfy pilot High Moon. It explores what happens when the countries of Earth establish colonies to mine the moon’s resources and discover a new form of life. Sandvig, repped by Innovative and Main Title, plays Marty Thurgood, an American astronaut investigated for engaging in possible espionage and sabotage when a giant blast goes off near an area where he was working. Diamantopoulos, repped by WME and Untitled, will play Marty’s older brother, a chief investigator for the American federal government who he has been dispatched to the moon to figure out who caused the moon explosion. Jim Danger Gray penned the script, with Fuller exec producing and Adam Kane directing for UCP.

‘Covert Affairs’, ‘Wayward Pines’ Add Actors

English dancer and actress Seeta Indrani (Broken) and Richard Short (666 Park Avenue) are set for arcs on USA’s spy drama Covert Affairs. Indrani will play Sana, a beautiful and sophisticated Indian woman whom Annie (Piper Perabo) befriends in the hopes that she may be the key to bringing Henry (Henry Wilcox) down for good. Short will take on the role of Reese, a charming Irish rocker-type who becomes entangled in Annie’s world.

Greta Lee (Girls, Inside Amy Schumer) has been added to Fox’s event series Wayward Pines. She will play Ruby, the barista at the only coffee shop in Wayward Pines, who not only is a daily presence in everybody’s morning, but also knows everybody’s business. Repped by manager Russell Gregory and attorney Kimberly Jaime.

Toby Jones Joins Fox’s ‘Wayward Pines’ For Director M. Night Shyamalan

The announcer from the Hunger Games films has joined the event series from M Night Shyamalan. In Fox’s thriller Wayward Pines, Toby Jones will play Dr. Jenkins, a charismatic and mysterious psychiatrist who treats a Secret Service agent (Matt Dillon) who arrives in a small Idaho town looking for two missing agents. Jenkins believes brain damage suffered in a car wreck is the source of the visiting agent’s paranoia. Then again, very little in the town of Wayward Pines is as it seems. Based on Blake Crouch’s novel Pines, the series also stars Carla Gugino and Melissa Leo and is set to debut next year. Along with The Hunger Games and its upcoming sequel, Jones’ credits include Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Frost/Nixon, My Week With Marilyn, the first Harry Potter film, and next year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Carla Gugino (Watchmen, Entourage, Karen Sisco) has been cast in Wayward Pines– M. Night Shyamalan‘s event series for Fox.  She will play  Kate Hewson — former love interests of Matt Dillon‘s Secret Service agent Ethan Burke. Kate is also Ethan’s former partner at the Secret Service and a resident of bucolic Wayward Pines, ID, where Ethan shows up on a job to find two missing federal agents. But, because it’s a Shyamalan project — and because it’s based on Blake Crouch’s novel Pines — we know he doesn’t turn up two agents, just a multitude of questions, and each step toward the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, and from the husband and father he was, until it looks like he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive. Fox has greenlighted M. Night Shyamalan‘s event series Wayward Pines for a 2014 premiere during next season. Matt Dillon has been cast as the lead in the project based on Blake Crouch’s novel Pines. Described as a mind-bending thriller in which nothing is what it seems, it centers on Secret Service agent Ethan Burke (Dillon) who arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions. Written by Chad Hodge and directed by Shyamalan, Wayward Pines was one of the first two event series projects Fox put in development at the beginning of the year under its new mandate to make a push in that area. Hodge and Shyamalan executive produce with Donald DeLine and Ashwin Rajan for FX Prods. Dillon is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
